MDQ received the River Plate Foundation | adidas Award

The authorities of the River Plate Foundation and adidas visited Mar del Plata to support the winners of the first place in the 4th edition of the River Plate Foundation | adidas Award.

The Millionaire Award is a unique contest for neighborhood clubs or social organizations from all over the country that rewards the project demonstrating the greatest social impact in its community and proposes comprehensive work through its sports activities. The finalists were chosen by a jury of honor composed of: Jorge Brito (President of CARP), Leonardo Ponzio (Former CARP player), Cyril Pellevat (Head of Administration UEFA Foundation), Pablo Jorge Lamo (General Manager Adidas), Agustín Porres (Regional Director Latam Varkey Foundation), Martín Caserta (representative of the club Santa Victoria Este winner 3rd Edition). The voting was done through virtual public voting.

The NGO and neighborhood club “La Primavera del Jardín” from Mar del Plata won the first place in the River Plate Foundation | adidas Award. They received two million pesos for building renovations and construction, and support for one year for institutional strengthening. With the award, they built a multipurpose room (SUM) to support boys and girls where they can receive school support among other activities, as they did not have an enclosed and roofed space, beyond the field.

The inauguration was attended by more than 125 girls, boys, and their families, as well as authorities and representatives of the organization. Santiago Moreno Hueyo, Director of Public Affairs for adidas Argentina, along with Foundation authorities Lucia de la Vega, Executive Director, Marcos Lanusse, Club Strengthening Coordinator, and Giuliano Baruzzo, Coordinator of the Values on the Field program, also attended. In addition to supporting the opening of the new spaces, they will begin with training for the institution.

Lucia de la Vega, Executive Director of the foundation, said: “Being here today inaugurating this SUM is a joy and a pride because from the River Foundation with this award we contribute to strengthening neighborhood clubs. We believe that through sport a space can be promoted for better education, a better quality of life, and a healthier way to grow in society.”

During the inauguration, Santiago Moreno Hueyo, Director of Public Affairs for adidas Argentina, stated: “From adidas, we are very proud to be part of this great event that is the inauguration of the SUM and the changing rooms of the club La Primavera de Jardín. These types of events motivate us to continue supporting all the neighborhood clubs in the country with the aim of changing lives through sport, as our purpose expresses.”

Daniel “Chapu” Grotadaura, president of the NGO, stated: “It is very exciting to see the participation of the people from the club and that enthusiasm that is increasingly contagious, and makes you feel like a winner, because you see the desire of the kids, the parents, the friends. Having an enclosed place today thanks to the financial prize allows us to move forward with postponed projects and activities and to think of new ones. Also, being able to educate our leaders, parents, mothers, teachers, and students through training is, for our institution, being able to think of a future with significance. The entire community of La Primavera del Jardín is and will be historically grateful for the push that the River Plate Foundation and adidas give us today.”
