Fundación River Plate Participates in the 1st International Congress on Football and ESG Organized by Instituto Galo

The River Plate Foundation was invited by Instituto Galo, the social branch of Atlético Mineiro, to participate in the 1st International Congress on Football and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance), which was held on October 7-8 at the MRV Arena.

With thematic panels addressing topics ranging from social responsibility in sports to entrepreneurship in favelas and inclusion, the congress promises to be a milestone in ESG in football, demonstrating Atlético and Instituto Galo’s strong commitment to issues of great relevance to society.

The event was attended by various clubs, including Fortaleza, Flamengo, Corinthians, Grêmio, São Paulo, Internacional, Vila Nova (GO), Athletico Paranaense, Nova Venécia, Cruzeiro, Coimbra, Paysandu, América, and Vasco. Additionally, the Benfica Foundation, the CBF, the Argentine Football Association (AFA), and other organizations dedicated to social inclusion also participated.

“This invitation is part of the work Fundación River has been carrying out with clubs in the region. It is very rewarding to know that we continue to meet and share spaces where the main goal is to create synergy and exchange knowledge on key topics related to sports as a tool for sustainable development,” adds Felipe Llorente, Secretary of Fundación River Plate.

For her part, Lucía de la Vega concludes: “It is an honor to be here today. We are confident that the main purpose of these gatherings is to share best practices, inspire, and then take action, to continue promoting the comprehensive development of children and adolescents living in socially vulnerable contexts.”
