Fundación River Plate, Adidas, and BBVA hosted a sports event where more than 350 girls and boys aged 8 to 14, who participate in the mixed-gender football programs Valores a la Cancha and organizations that use sports as a tool for social and athletic development, came together to experience a day of sports and values.
The Copa Amistad is a sports event aimed at strengthening bonds and promoting values in sports, while also demonstrating the importance of teamwork that is carried out daily in collaboration with various organizations.
During the event, Fundación River Plate brought its mixed-gender schools from Greater Buenos Aires to meet the teams from Escuela Starte and Unión Ferroviaria Villars. They competed for the most important trophy for the organizations and participants: the “Copa Campeón de Valores,” which rewards and recognizes positive actions and attitudes both on and off the field. Additionally, during the games, the adidas and BBVA volunteer teams assisted with event logistics and refereeing, highlighting good actions with the “green card” in each match. The day also featured value stations where the girls and boys from all teams shared moments of play and fun through activities such as carnival games, skill challenges, and brain teasers, each reflecting a different value. Furthermore, a special moment occurred when a Copa Amistad banner was painted, symbolizing teamwork and the importance of volunteering to continue supporting more children on the field.
“For us, it is very important to organize these events and continue building connections with organizations that share our principles and support us every day. During the tournament, we saw participants come together, share experiences, and volunteers get involved. These connections are what transform the lives of so many girls and boys, and for us, that is the most important thing,” explained Lucía de la Vega, Executive Director of Fundación River.
“Volunteering at BBVA reflects our social commitment and spirit of collaboration. Together with Fundación River Plate and adidas, we worked as a team to organize the Copa Amistad, which is an example of how sports can be used as a tool to promote social inclusion and create new opportunities, contributing to a more just and inclusive society,” highlighted María Martha Deleonardis, Principal Manager of Responsible Business at BBVA in Argentina.
On the other hand, Santiago Moreno Hueyo, Director of Public Affairs at Adidas, stated: “We experienced an unforgettable day where the kids from the different schools had the chance to play football at River’s facilities. For many, it was the fulfillment of a dream, combined with the opportunity to make new friends in a healthy and formative environment, which is the spirit of the Copa Valores organized by Fundación River.”
